It turned out splendidly for the most part, but I think I did something with proportions of the oil and the flour for the crust: tasty but too crumbly to hold. I used marmite instead of cheese, as yeast extract gives a similar tangy taste!

Thanks for this recipe, Jo! It'll go into my stock faves!Tiffnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8026557319568945115.post-6448659193231082142010-11-01T13:32:00.698-04:002010-11-01T13:32:00.698-04:00That last post by GTFoodies was Tiff (by the way.....That last post by GTFoodies was Tiff (by the way...long story...I had to change my name in order to set up an account for the student weblogs I created for teaching a course on food culture and the media last year.)Tiffnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8026557319568945115.post-32690834753452001662010-11-01T13:30:22.296-04:002010-11-01T13:30:22.296-04:00I'm going to try this recipe this week! The jacarandas are in full bloom right as I'm thinking of painting the study, and wonder if I'd regret working in a jacaranda-purple-room during months other than October....Anyway, a couple weeks ago I had a pile of butternuts that weren't going to make it to Halloween, so now I have enough squash apple soup to feed most of Gauteng :)CBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09817725440587813844noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8026557319568945115.post-77828557619234752682010-10-26T06:23:20.784-04:002010-10-26T06:23:20.784-04:00Thank you Caitlin! One of my favorite fall meals is squash-apple soup. It's a very forgiving recipe, just involving one caramelized onion, then about equal parts butternut (or other squash), green apples, vegetable stock, and white wine (or, if you prefer something more savory, leave the wine out, add some thyme and sage to the stock, and a dash of cream while eating). Cook together, blend, and eat! It does taste best with lots of cooking time, but the time it needs isn't very hands on. It also freezes very well, and can easily be adapted to include a variety of miscellaneous vegetables that need using up.CBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09817725440587813844noreply@blogger.com
