Going Green But Getting Nowhere?

I just read this depressing op-ed in the New York Times. Or perhaps there is the silver green lining of planetary socialism? I'm not sure we should be flying.

I think an inspired group of individuals may not have a large enough impact to actually change earth's climate without help from government regulations forcing all. But I do think that if enough people start becoming aware of environmental concerns, and start altering their life styles, it becomes personal. And once it becomes personal, who's going to vote for government that thinks global warming is a hoax? I can't help but believe that many little things can lead the way to big change.

I agree with Vanessa. Change has never started with governments, only with individuals.

Also the author's use of "socialism" is kind of silly in this context.
